Each month we'll read several assigned chapters of a book or other material to better understand race, implicit bias, and the actions we can take to create more inclusive and equitable work environments. We discuss our experiences, questions, and opinions related to the material we read in a safe, judgment-free space. Facilitators provide discussion questions and material synopses. All Ascension associates are welcome to join and we aim to have a diverse group of participants with whom to share our experiences and ask questions.

Objective(s): 1 Understand historical and cultural components of race and its influence on our everyday personal and professional lives. 2 Share and learn from each others' personal experiences with regards to race, racism, and implicit bias. 3 Recognize how reading material and discussions can enhance our interactions with colleagues and patients. 4 Identify their own implicit biases and make conscientious attitude changes, leading to improved interactions with our patients of color or minorities.
