Overview
Activity is to increase the participants knowledge on the anatomy and function of the brain in order to better care for patients who have disorders involving the brain. This activity will go more in depth in regards to anatomy, vasculature and pathophysiology than most nursing training programs. This will allow staff to better understand and care for stroke and other neurological disorders.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of basic vascular anatomy to stroke symptoms.
  2. Apply knowledge of basic brain structures in practice when providing care
  3. Correlate deficits or expected complications to the site of injury
  4. Identify physiologic changes at the cellular level (e.g., penumbra).

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.00 IPCE credits for learning and change.
