Overview

Ethics on TV explores the cases we see in medical dramas, movies, and other types of media to review how we might approach them in the context of Catholic Healthcare. By incorporating the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services, principles of medical ethics, local law, Ascension policy, and other relevant resources, we can generate recommendations or suggest reasoning that might apply if participants face a similar situation in the future.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Gain familiarity with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services (ERDs).
  2. Identify specific ERDs that may provide guidance with respect to the cases presented during the session.
  3. Apply specific ERDs to similar cases that may arise in future practice.
  4. Determine when it is appropriate to utilize Clinical Ethics consultation services for support in the future.
  5. Identify ethical dimensions of care in future practice

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.00 IPCE credits for learning and change.
