Nurses with limited experience taking care of patients with temporary and permanent pacemakers were having difficulty demonstrating competency in the clinical setting. This program will discuss indications for pacing, pacemaker functionality and components, nursing care of pacemakers, troubleshooting techniques, and correlate paced rhythm strips with appropriate nursing interventions.

Registered associates will receive an email one week before course convening date with the course code and course instructions. (Will be hosted in Google Classroom)

1. State indications for pacing
2. Define common pacing terminology
3. Identify various methods for delivering a pacing stimulus
4. Describe how a pacemaker works
5. Identify components of a dual chamber pulse generator
6. Describe nursing care of the patient with a temporary or permanent pacemaker
7. Demonstrate pacemaker troubleshooting techniques
8. Correlate paced rhythm strips with appropriate nursing interventions

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 2.50 IPCE credits for learning and change.
