Overview

As our population ages, and as the concept of Age-Friendly care is becoming more mainstream, what an opportune time to look for ways in which to infuse the 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility) into our everyday thought processes. The Center for Healthy Aging's 34th annual Conference on Aging will focus on varying aging problems, issues, and concerns, as we apply the 4Ms to the topics of the day. We will discuss medical and MEDICATION issues such as deprescribing, continuous glucose monitoring, and the effect of chemotherapy on the aging brain. We will review the importance of MOBILITY and exercise at any age. We will cover MENTATION as we learn more about mental status testing for non psychologists, thoughts for dementia risk reduction, and discuss medications use in patients with dementia. We will examine WHAT MATTERS in relation to social determinants of health, diversity, solo agers and challenges of care in the home. Lastly, we will add our own M to the mix with an important discussion MINDFULLNESS and how to learn resiliency in the midst of continuous distractions. This conference is meant to enhance the knowledge base and skills of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, dietitians, allied health and rehabilitation therapists, social workers, health facility administrators, and other interested health care professionals.
