Overview

The William J. Millikan Vital Signs Trauma Conference is a one-day event focusing on trauma patient care from injury to rehabilitation. This event is open to physicians, nurses, therapists, pre-hospital providers, pharmacists, social workers, and students of all disciplines.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learners will be able to describe the current assessment and management priorities for various pediatric traumatic emergencies.
  2. Learners will be able to explain current airway management techniques and use of Delayed Sequence Intubation.
  3. Learners will understand the basics of burn care.
  4. Learners will be able to describe methods for stabilizing orthopedic injuries utilizing readily available equipment.
  5. Learners will be able to explain their role in an EMS Time Out when transferring patient care.
  6. Learners will be able to identify structures within the chest, as well as be able to discuss assessment techniques and management of traumatic chest injuries.
  7. Learners will describe and discuss common themes regarding standards of care and documentation errors in select emergency medicine malpractices cases.

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 6.50 IPCE credits for learning and change.
