Overview
This course will educate nursing staff on supporting patients in coping post-operatively from a spinal fusion via a behavioral health approach. This includes helping the patients cope with pain and anxiety related to the acute post-operative time period. The course will be taught by Dr. Marcelle Friedman, a psychology fellow at the Dell Medical School


ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learners will be able to understand the importance and impact of pain and anxiety in post-operative spine patietns
  2. Learners will be able to understand non-pharmacological interventions for pain and anxiety in post operative spine patients
  3. Learners will be able to implement at least one non-pharmacological intervention for pain and anxiety in post operative spine patients

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 0.75 IPCE credits for learning and change.
