Overview

Discussion to bring awareness to birth equity and shared decision making in obstetrics. Topics include description of terms used in birth equity, tools to use in shared decision making, and analyzing current feedback from patients recently engaged in our system.



Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: 

  1. Describe the concept of shared decision making.
  2. Understand the relationship between evidence based guidelines, new research findings, and shared decision making.
  3. Understand, recognize, and minimize the role of implicit bias and systemic racism in obstetrics.
  4. Be familiar with strategies for implementing optimal shared decision making in clinical practice.
  5. Relate current research findings from MADM & MOR scales to our practice here at Borgess.

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1 IPCE credits for learning and change.
