Overview

This program is designed to provide education to medical residents pursuant to completing educational milestones under ACGME requirements. Helps participants gain experience in understanding and applying ethical principles to help navigate complex medical cases. Will utilize case studies to explore ethical dimensions of caregiving.
This Grand Rounds session is offered as a collaboration between our Graduate Medical Education office and Ascension’s Ethics Center of Expertise.  It will focus on applying ethical principles, the ERDs and ABIDE frameworks to a case of safe discharge planning for vulnerable populations using the Ascension Clinical Ethics Deliberation Process (Assess, Analyze, Act).

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify ethical principles that relate to the case presented.
  2. Apply applicable policies that relate to the case presented.
  3. Apply appropriate ethical religious directives that relate to the case presented.

Accreditation
Ascension is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the Healthcare team.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.00 IPCE credits for learning and change.
